The Beachside Outdoor Recreation Center is located across from Hurlburt Field's main gate, adjacent to the Soundside housing area. Outdoor Recreation oversees an array of activities, these are: The Marina, Famcamp, Paintball, Rifle and Pistol Club, Dive Shop, Aquatic Center, Picnic grounds, Community Park Pavilions, Beachside Pagodas, RV storage lots, Boat Towing Service, Specialized Trips and Classes
For your convenience we also have an extended list of rentals. Our rentals include, camping equipment, one and two-person kayaks, canoes, hobie cat sailboats, motorized watercraft, water sports equipment, grills, trailers and A-frame pop up campers. Please refer to our brochure for a complete listing of items.
A boating safety course is required for all motorized watercraft. This requirement is a two portion series. The first portion must be completed on line at www.boatus.com. You will need to take the general boating course. After, please take the test following the informational course; print a copy of the certificate indicating you have passed the course. You must then present that certificate to any ODR staff, any day at noon, to view the video portion of the installation safety requirement. There will be two videos presented, along with a short briefing. Please allow about 40 to 45 minutes for the second portion to be completed. At the culmination of both parts of the series, you will be issued a Marty Marlin Boater's safety card. For your convenience, our card is also accepted at Eglin and Destin Army Rec. The service is complimentary to all DOD card holders and no appointment is necessary.
Hands on Boater safety courses are available on Thursdays at 10:00am. The cost is $15.00 per person and requires an advance reservation. Please insure that your online boater's safety portion is completed before the course is taken. The class will include a limited personal tour of the local waterway, an opportunity to operate our boats with an experienced staff member, instruction on how to enter and exit the marina, and all the know how's to get you acquainted with boaters safety requirements.
Salt and fresh water fishing licenses can also be purchased at our facility and we offer the convenience of an ATM machine for quick money access.
